Are there non-compete laws for officer of company without contract?

I worked for my fathers company as vice president. I was recently terminated from this company. I never signed a non-compete contract but have been told by someone that because I was an officer there is some kind of law prohibiting me from competing even without contract. I have not been able to find anything to support this. So is it true that there is an implyed non-compete that is enforcable and legal?
