Age discrimination

I was given a lot of empty promises, such as you will get promoted next year, but then, I was told, since you're still young, you will get promoted later. It is a matter of time that you will get promoted, but you're still young so continue to learn.
I ended up leaving the company, as there is no hope to get promoted any soon.
Is this classified as age discrimination?
