After 2 years of silence my former company is now collecting relo expenses. Do I have options?

I was a manufacturing engineer in the pharmaceutical industry and was with the company for over 2.5 years. The relocation expenses are for failing to complete 2-years of work after I was relocated to Southern California just at my two-year anniversary with the company.

I resigned after taking a medical leave following a job-related mental breakdown (things got so serious that I was starting to contemplate suicide).

Throughout my short time with the company I'd seen a total of 2 psychologists, one career counselor and a physician trying my best to make the most out of my job and to fulfill my contractual obligations.

I had been seeing a psychologist and physician concerning my issues with my job at the time just proceeding my breakdown, even had medication prescribed to me to alleviate my work issues.
