employer pays

you are not responsible for damage to any equipment, tools or machinery that results from ordinary wear and tear or from any cause that is not your fault. you have the right to go to the labor board (in the front of your phone book under "state of california", labor standards enforcement) and have any money your employer took reimbursed to you. if you are disciplined or fired for complaining to the labor board, you have a claim for wrongful termination, and should see an attorney experienced in employment law immediately. also, if your employer is routinely charging many employees for such things, you should talk to an attorney. you can find one in your area by going to the cal employment lawyers assn website (www.celaweb.org).
good luck
