time limit on non-compete

I have read several articles which say that legal precedent in Ohio limits non-competes to "six months or time of engagement," whichever is shorter. I can not find any instances where judges/arbitrators have made rulings like this. Any suggestions on how I can research this further? Does the '6 months' limitation actually exist in Ohio? Thanks.

The simple response is no. The Ohio Courts are authorized to change the terms of a non-compete to make it match the legitimate needs of the prior employer and I have had judges reduce the time period to 6 months, but this is not uniform.
