i work for a major bank as a consultant. work there a 100 days a year. recently some staff person said something about me and my work. other workers have been using word behind my back and in conversation when talking with me. thinking i don't know. i wil

want to know if i can report the staff person to HR. He's been with the company for 18 years. I wouldn't mind if he used this word about my creative work.. but he said i was this word. Hard for me to recover. not many people say this kind of personal insult.. very controlled company.

You should. HR has a duty to everyone - employees and contractors.

Depending on the term it may or not qualify as severe and it would not be considered pervasive for some time.

Retaliation claims are often the most serious. But retaliation only happens after an employer or HR is told about the discrimination or hostility. Good luck.
