how enforceable is my non-compete/non-solicitation/confidentiality agreement?

After leaving company A because it was a hostile/toxic workplace, I have been looking for a job for several months. Company B has offered me a position with their company and while what they do overlaps in some areas, Company B is much larger and broader and would gain nothing from Company A. The position that I have been offered with Company B does not exist and will never exist at Company A. Company B is aware that I signed this agreement with Company A but their corporate lawyers have reviewed the agreement and feel that it won't be a problem. If Company A were to find out about my employment with Company B, would I have any chance in court? The agreement is worded a bit funny but does say that for the time of one year and a radius of xx miles, I cannot work in this industry and Company A refuses to waive any part of the agreement as they see Company B as direct competition. While I need the job, I am not sure I should risk taking it as I don't put it past Company A to try and determine if I am working there and then go after me.(Company B called company A for a reference though I asked them not to so Company A is aware of Company B's interest in me). Thanks for any advice.
