employer avoiding paying my vac. pay..won't give me an answer

my employer is avoiding paying me one day of vacation pay that i took. my check was to have it included 2 paychecks ago. i have called the human resources hotline since our co. had relocated payroll dept out of state(there is always a prompt to leave a message and i do). i cannot get my immediate supervisor to do anything. i have spoken and complained for over a month now and there nothing happening. the amount due me is minute, however the idea is that i want and deserve my money and there is not one person who has an answer for me. please advise.

Vacation Pay

Have you written a letter to HR? I would suggest that first. A voice message on a hot line can get overlooked. And, send your letter to the HR Department certified mail, return receipt requested. Remember to be polite. It could be that the person who is supposed to take messages from the hot line may not have told HR -- and so the person you deal with at HR may not be at fault for the delay. Give the company at least two weeks to sort this out if this happened recently.

If you have to take formal steps...

Does your company have a written policy that you will be paid for your vacation days? And, do you have proof that you were entitled to be paid for the day you took? If "yes" to both questions, you might try filing a claim under the Texas Payday Law. You can file that with the Texas Workforce Commission, and I'm pretty sure you can do that online. You must file that claim within 180 days of when you were due that pay.
