drafting an employment contract

My father-in-law wants to retire from the family business (Peter Troost Monument Company) and wants me to take over his portion of the business. I am currently employed at Northwestern University and would be leaving a perfectly good job to help him. I would like to have a contract drafted which would guarantee salary through the spring of 2003 (when my husband finishes his medical residency). I am not concerned with bonuses or vacation at this time, but I am concerned that once I leave my current job, he might actually sell his portion of the business, leaving me unemployed with no income to support my family. I would like an estimate on drafting this contract.
Thank you.

Drafting an employment contract

A contract like the one you outline can be drafted. I stongly recommend that you hire an experienced employment lawyer to do so. Employment contracts are interpreted in ways that may not be obvious from or may even contradict the langauge of the contract. An experienced employment lawyer would know how to avoid these traps.
