can my Human Resource tell me I should step down from my position due to a medical condition

My Human Resource person had told me twice I should step down from my Supervisor position into a manager position because of my medical condition. She keeps suggesting I should think about going back to my hometown and manage the store because of my medical condition and she also mentioned my husbands disabilities. Is this legal?
