are there any legal reasons that allow you to break an employee payback agreement?

I signed a employee payback agreement in which I have to payback relocation expenses if I leave before a year. I am leaving after 4 months because my house in the previous location has not sold and will be headed to foreclosure unless I move back and save it, my equity, and credit.
Is there any legal reasons to avoid paying back relocation expenses?
