Where do I stand when a boss or directors goes through a personal item while I am not at work?

There was a issue at work last week where the boss assalted a family member in the building. A doctor has now signed me off.

I have a coworker who has mentioned that they have been at my desk where I did leave some personal items due to the circumstances and leaving in a hurry to contact the police.
Now I have gone to collect my items to discover that they have take pages out of my personal notebook and had actually taken my notebook from home with personal non work related information in.

Where do I stand fighting against this? Or where do I even start to address this.
