When to file for Florida benefits when I have a severance agreement

I have a question about the timing of when to file for unemployment benefits in Florida. I have a severance agreement that will pay me an equivalent of eight weeks of work. Currently, currently Florida claims are capped at a maximum of 12 weeks.

I guess my question is related to when the clock starts on that 12-week period. Is it on the day I was terminated and eligible for benefits, or does the 12 weeks commence at the time I first file for benefits? Is there any advantage to waiting until closer to the end of the time my severance is being paid out to file a claim? As is often the case, I've read conflicting advice on the internet.
