What is the value of my accrued vacation?

I recently left my employer in Illinois. I was able to find the law stipulating that they must pay me for my unused vacation; however, I was a salaried employee, and they are attempting to compensate me for those days by dividing my salary by 365, calling that my 'daily rate', and then multiplying that by the number of vacation days. I think that a vacation day should represent a 'workday', but can't find any law dictating that it must be done this way. Can you help?
