What is my obligation, when informed that a mistake in my favor was made on paid time off?

I have been informed that my paid time off was calculated at the wrong rate for 10 years. During that time, I only used vacation I was told I had. I was assured multiple times that the rate was correct (I inquired each time it was to go up for years worked). I have now been told that the rate was calculated wrong for the last 10 years and I owe the company over 500 hours of paid time off. What is the statue of limitations and my obligations? A few employees such as myself are being told we must repay, while others are not.
