What are my right as an independent contractor. My last company hasn't paid me in 2 months. Im net45

I have worked or the same company for 3 years as an independent contractor. A very large corporation bought out the company in 2008 and I was kept on as an independent contractor.
I have yet to be paid for my last invoice and have had to fight for months at a time for all previous payments. It has created significant financial binds for me. Our contracts reads that I will be paid every 45 days which the company has rarely abided by. I also worked at this company on set days, at set times and they reimbursed me for my supplies. Because I have never been paid on time and I still have not been paid out for my final invoice, June, 2010 it continues to put me in a financial bind since I depend on my paycheck. The person who manages finances has told me several times that I will be paid out on certain days and that never happens. I have some of those in emails. My question is do I have any rights as an independent contractor. I was told by an employee that worked directly with the finance team that they were hoping to make me hold out long enough since I was not a priority that I would walk away. There is plenty more to this story but I want to keep it brief enough to catch your attention.
