Unfair demotion?

Unfair demotion?
Wednesday November 5th 2014 I was supposed to go into work hourly manager at 12pm I called the restaurant while in the waiting room of the ER around 10am to let my supervisor who was at the restaurant at the time know that I wouldn't make it cause I was waiting to see the doctor, one of the other managers answered the phone though and when I asked to speak to the general manager my supervisor I was told that she was busy and couldn't come to the phone so I told the manager I was speaking to about my situation. A little after I got out of the hospital another one of the managers called to confirm I wasn;t coming to work I told her no that I had my doctors paper work and would have all that ready. Later that night at 7:29 pm my district manager called and accused me of missing work. I told him my situation he then asked what I went to the hospital for, I told him stomach pains, he then acted as if I could've came to work, with his tone as he asked "You were in so much pain you couldn;t come to work...we had a rev (inspection) which we did poorly on by the way' as if my health wasn't important as if I was to blame. I told him my reason for going to the hospital was none of his concern only that I went. He claimed that it was his business cause I missed work then he proceeded to say "lets make this simple...' and then he hung up in my face.

At 10:54 pm that night I called the restaurant to see what time I was supposed to come in (mostly I wanted to know if I still had a job) they told me I was off the next day Thursday November 6 2014, but I opened at 5 am Friday November 2014. So friday (today) comes and I get up at 3:30 to get ready and go to work (I live a ways away) I arrive and all the lights are already on inside and I see a car parked outside I unlock the door go inside and my General Manager is working, she tells me that I'm not working that my District manager wants me to call him. I call him right then and there, he doesn't answer, I go outside call again. I call when I arrive home and then hours later at 10:50 he calls me back 4 minutes later and tells me that as a manager he shouldn't have to tell me the proper call out procedures and my tone when he last called wasn't to his liking so they're demoting me and I can move to another store he hasn't decided which one or if I don't like it I can just find some where else to work, he then tells me he'll call back tomorrow for my decision.

I go to the resturant up the street (where I used to be positioned before I was transferred) and ask my old general manager for a employee hand book which he willingly gives. I called my dm back and ask him exactly what my demotion is for he states It's because I didn';t call my supervisor Jennifer...even though I did. I don't feel like I should be punished when she didn't come to the phone, nor should I have to track her down when I'm having a health issue. I also called him to confirm that he knew that I asked to speak with her but was denied communication which he confirmed and then once again told me it's demotion to crew member position or nothing at all and then hung up on me again.

I rarely call out, I'm always early to work, I follow the rules to the best of my ability. I've been having issues with my gm since I got there a week ago (I was transferred) she complained about everything about me and I would fix it to do it how she wanted. She even told me I wasn't getting transferred back, that I had to quit or she had to fire me. We had a meeting this month and I thought things would be better...a meeting that I had to drive all the way there for on my day off and I didn't even get paid (November 3rd 2014)

I have a history of stomach issues and this time they found a nice sized fibroid in my uterus, which apparently is a benign tumor which causes pain in the stomach and back, heavy bleeding, pain during sex and problems with fertility . The doctor I saw that day referred me to a specialist. My follow up is Tuesday November 11th 2014 at 1:30

I don't see how I can be punished for trying to do the right thing.
