So I had a pre-planned trip for the weekend for my kids. I became my father's sole caretaker when his dementia progressed and he could not live alone. My brother was supposed to take father for weekend and at last minute cancelled. Ended up leaving a day later and taking dad with me and his daytime caretaker so my kids could have some fun still and dad would still feel safe with me near by throughout the day. We have literally been home bound since dad came to live here. So the following Tuesday I had off pre-approved vacation /fmla for dad's appt. Over the weekend he started having his dementia episodes on and off. So on Sunday afternoon I called my job sick line and used my fmla for the Monday since I knew these episodes an last 2-3 days at times, so on on the way back from the trip I had to stop several times to let him relax and walk in the fresh air, so we missed his morning Tuesday scheduled MD appt and reschedule to the following week,MD had no sooner. So now my boss states she anonymously recieved pics of my weekend trip and that how can I be on a getaway but calied out fmla, so I explained what happened but she is trying to write me up and or terminate me. Mind you she has been trying to write me up since Dec 2016 but I have fought all her attempts, Is that legal for her to try tout do with this absence? . Or was i wrong ?
