Release from liability of damages regarding background check on non-job history (pr. resume info)

I had a very negative experience with an educational institution from which I graduated. The school/head official has interfered negatively with my professional development and success. Recently, I received an employee application that, as part of its background check, wants me to sign away and release all liability for any damages incurred from all background checks which specify educational background/anything listed on your resume. Basically, the document says it can investigate anything listed on your resume.

I also read about the laws regarding pre-adverse and after adverse decisions but it seems these employee documents release themselves of that liability and providing you with such documentation if they decide to not hire you based on something said by someone in your past (as part of your background check). I am willing to provide evidence of my completion of my degree as well as a professional reference related to the institution-I'm not lying about my background-I just don't want more negative interference. What can I do?

As well, all the "consumer" reporting blah blah is all released and available to third parties and anyone it seems. I would not want someone saying or implying something negative to then be shared with others and continue to impair my ability to attain employment. (No criminal record or anything like that, and it's not that i have anything to hide I just want to be safe from this institution/individual continuing to hurt me.)
