Non Compete

My question is on a non compete agreement i signed 6 months after I was hired. I work for a subcontractor in the glazing industry where there are open bids to get work with General contractors and the bid goes to the lowest bidder,Am i really competing since this is the format of the industry. Also I was not allowed to have a lawyer review the agreement as my boss set a deadline to have the agreement turned into him by the end of the day. I did not receive any compensation for signing it but felt if I did not I would be fired. Also it is for five years or within 500 miles. There are other factors involved and would like to discuss them further with a lawyer.

Non-compete with general contractor

There are several issue which are relevant here. It may be that 500 miles and five years is too broad thereby making the agreement invalid. In addition there may be a question as to whether you got anything for it, although generally continued employment will be considered consideration. Unfortunately, what this comes down to is that I really would need more information.
