My employer offered a severance and gave me 14 days to sign it. I was 42 at the time. Is it true that employers are legally required to give you 21 days to sign a severance if employee is over 40 years old?

Company hq located in Mason, OH but I live in Chicago, IL. They offered me a severance that said I had to sign and return in 14 days. I had 2 close family members die in the same week and then had a previously scheduled vacation following the funerals. Was unable to consult with a lawyer. I did not sign it. I requested an extension but they told me no. Then I read that employers are required to offer employees over 40 yrs old 21 days. Is this true? If so, how should I proceed?
