My employer is closing my division. We've all been given notice of severance. I found a job prior to my expected termination date, but at a much lower wage than what my current employer pays. Are they obligated to pay my severance if I leave earlier than

Our entire division is closing. Every employee is being given severance. Minimum of 4 weeks, maximum of 26 weeks depending on the length of employment. My termination date isn't until March 31st, 2017. I'm 56 years old and finding a job at this age isn't easy. I had an offer for a good job but it pays almost 1/2 what I make now. Am I still entitled to part or all of my severance, since the only reason I'm leaving is the layoff? I would never voluntarily quit a job I've been at 20 years when I'm 56 years old. That would be nuts.
