My employer has falsely accused me, fired me and won't pay me

My story is very complex. I am employed by a company who classifies me as an independent contractor. The first four years I did not need my own business entity but this last current year they required we do a DBA . Now a little way through the work season the owner of the company started accusing me of stealing , lying and doing drugs, all based on something that was said to my employer by one of our customers. The customer lied which in turn set my employer into accusing me and telling the other employees the same false accusations. Now my employer after weeks of non stop hazing me is saying he has to keep my paycheck so he can do an audit on me for jobs I did. He says if he finds any wrongdoing he will just deduct money from my check and if not he will just give it to me later. But in the meantime won't give me any work and told me if I want to keep my job I have to setttle for a demotion. Also he found out I was not of the LDS religious group and every single employee he hires has to be LDS
