Limit me directly or indirectly own, manage, operate, invest, or financial assist a restaurant?

I am a restuarant manager of a Chinese restaurant, my family is opening a Thai restaurant in town but my intention is to continue to work as I am but invest in the family business. My employer is asking that I compete clause which indicates states" he shall not directly or indirectly, own, manage, operate, invest, acquire, lend, or furnish financial assistance, counsel, advise, whether as a proprietor, partner, stockholder, lender, customer, or other participant in any business that is competitive within 25-mile radius, and one year time limit. I shall though if it is a non-Asian restaurant. Can they limit me this way?
