Is it normal the CLL treatment (intermittant days) are not covered by short term disability?

I was told that my CLL treatment which requires intermittant days off over at least 6 months is not covered by my company Short term disability policy. It seem I would need to take a chunk of time off not just 3 days here and there to utuilize it....is this normal? Is there really such a thing as the wrong kind of cancer for STDisability? I feel betrayed by my company
