Is it legal for an employer in Maryland to mandate attendance to a national meeting being held out of the state and make the employee use PTO to attend? If the employer is paying for the registration expenses for the mandatory meeting.

Employer is paying for the expenses to attend the meeting, like registration, hotel, and flights. The national meeting will be held in Nevada and employer is mandating attendance. The employer is also making the employees used PTO to attend the meeting.

I want to know if they can legally require the employees to use paid time off.
