Is hawaii an employment-at-will state?

I have two questions that I need to ask. If first one is answered yes that would be enough.

1. Is Hawaii a employment-at-will state?

2. I have been working as an emergency hire for a middle school. I have been recently been threatened with being fired by the end of the week. She is supposedly firing me because of subpar performance. I believe my performance been adequate. There has been no disciplinary paperwork done against me because of subpar performance. Can she just fire me like she did?
Thank You

At-will?

Yes, Hawaii is generally at employment at will state, in the private sector. Most schools are public employers however and hire under contract (which is in writing and explains what you are and what rights you have or don't have). It also depends what job you hold and which Dept. may have actually hired you. Such an employment question is not a simple yes or no question.
