Is Ohio a Neutral Reference State?

I am trying to find out if Ohio law permits Neutral References for past employment. I understand that this means that only dates of employment and last position held is the only information that will be released.

I have been unable to find this information out on my own and would appreciate your help.

Ohio law protects employes who provide a negative reference

Ohio is not a neutral reference state. To the contrary, Ohio law specifically protects an employer from a defamation claim for a false reference, so long as the employer did not make the false reference with malice or ill will towards you.
