I'm w2. Treated like 1099. Base salary of 500 a week. If I make a commission the base salary is deducted from my commission. Basically have to pay back all w2 wages with commission. Is thisnlegal?

Paid every week a salary of 500. This is automatically building debt with the employer. Say I don't make any sales all month. I now owe the company 2000. I get a commission next month for 2000. I don't see the commission at all as it went to pay back my w2 wages... how is this legal?
