I'm a city employee and have been for 20 years, I've sick off and on in 2015 and 2016 . I had not recieved a note from one doctor and because of the they exspelled me for three days. Since then my attendance was better, i got sick two weeks ago of early p

I have been a Victim's Advocate for almost 20 years. I have been a dedicated employee. I have been sick on and off or the past year. I was reprimanded in January 2016 for not having a doctor's note causing "unprotected" leave. I have missed this week and the week of May 1 of this year. I have had a doctor's note for every day that I was off. I was told by Human Resources that as long as I had a note that I was "protected." I received a fed ex package on my doorstep stating that I was terminated due to my absence. I had a severe infection. I did not have a chance to give Human Resources my excuses. That was the only reason that they stated was the reason for my termination. During my employment, over the years I had never taken a vacation. I had at one point almost 300 vacation hours. My mother got sick, cancer, last year and I used a lot of my time. I eventually went to counseling through E.A.P to help deal with this stress. The Franklin County Municipal Court is currently in a court case with another employee that is suing them for harassment. I have followed, since when I first got into trouble about not having a doctor's note, every thing that they have asked of me. Please help me. I know that I am a good employee. I worked in that position for years by myself and never complained or asked for any compensation. I would stay late almost every night to get the paperwork done. I just feel like I'm being discriminated against. Thank you so much. They never gave me a chance to give them my notes. I sent my dismissal by mail. I never got to defend myself. I just don't know what to do. Again, my name is Sarah Wellman. My contact information is (614) 935-8185 or (614) 868-7293
