If I'm hosting a team retreat that is voluntary and will be a mix of fun activities and training, do I need to compensate my employees for their time traveling to the retreat?

I host an annual retreat each year for my remote employees. They come from a few different states and we go to a different location each year. I pay for the lodging and a reimbursement for their travel. The event is 100% voluntary and they are not pressured to attend. We do some fun activities together, have free time, go to meals and also have some training sessions. I compensate them for their time spent in training sessions but not at activities, meals, etc. Do I need to compensate them for their time spent traveling (on airplane or in car) to get to the retreat?
