If I was fired from a job in Florida for stealing, with no proof! Is my former employer allowed to disclose the reason for firing me to prospective employers?

tender in Florida. When I showed up for work last week I was approached at my vehicle by the owner handed a check for two weeks and asked to give the key back. I asked what was wrong I was given no explanation. He appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Later I am hearing people talking and saying that he told some people there was money missing! I know I did not take this money. What I am worried about is that future possible employers getting this information. Is my previous employer allowed to disclose that information proof, if they call for a job reference?

Yes unless you had a contract with the boss/company before or after your employment. Maybe as part of a separation agreement. If he does say something false and you lose a an opportunity, you may have a claim.
