If I never signed the non compete clause given to me upon my hiring 3 years ago, would Montana courts uphold it or is not not valid since I never signed it

I left my job recently after 3 years . A few clients have decided to come with me. I never signed the no compete clause when I was hired. So if I never signed it then it can't be enforced, correct?
