I work at a bank in a non-banker position and I am hourly. Management has told all employees to solicit loan referrals off the clock at any opportunity. This has been made abundantly clear that it is not optional. Is this legal?

Management has been increasingly aggressive about forcing participation and have been told that some employees have been threatened with discipline for non compliance. I realize they have no way to know if we're actually doing it or not, but the unrelenting push is poisoning the work culture.
