I was laid off 3 weeks ago along with several other co workers. We knew the closing of our department( a child care center) was coming for the past 5 months. All 12 of us received a severance package 1 to 8 weeks pay depending on how long we had been ther

Have worked there 19 years . They are closing the day care center with in another agency. The statement about the severance ending was only in the letter signed by head of HR but not in actual agreement which was 5 pages long and stated we can't sue or disparage them etc. The director of this childcare center is planning to open her own center and a few of us plan to go with her but she is not open yet. HR knew of her plans so this is probably why they wrote that in the letter.
