I was fired after 9 years of employment following acquisition of company by another company. I was told that others who had been laid off or fired were given severance packages. I was not and am wondering if there is are any grounds on which I could advan

The employee handbook states that their are policies of progressive discipline includes verbal warnings, written warnings and suspension. I was not given a warning. The handbook equivocates may, as its sole discretion, use any form of discipline. It appears to me they want it both ways.
