I was an employee of a company for over a year. Even before starting this job I had small lower back issues, it's honestly never been said why I have issues with my lower back. I never reported anynew injuries to my employer. I just kept showing up and doing my work. I wasn't required to do a lot of manual labor as I worked from home at my desk mostly. 3 Months ago I injured my back doing work for the companyI worked for, but again, because my back was generally a problem from the past I didn't report it. I started seeing a Chiropractor on my own but I just kept this all to myself. I didn't want to raise eyebrows. This past Monday I was laid off, my back is still injured. I have paid into STD since starting with this company. The rules say that I'm required to take sick time to use it before I can use STD. I can't do this now, I'm not trying to do anything besides let my back heal so I will qualify for all jobs not just desk jobs. Can I still qualify for STD. Because I didn't report re-injuring my back, do I qualify for workers comp? I sent the workers comp question to my employer on Tuesday of this week, but it was ignored. I even assumed they would of said because you didn't report it, we can't be held liable. However, they didn't respond. I've contacted Lincoln about STD but I'm not sure if I will qualify.
