I signed a non-compete, its a special scenerio and I need to know my options.

It has been 14 months since I signed a 2 year non-compete clause in Ohio. The old telecom company sold many different products (wireless, T1, internet, phone equipment, lighting, etc.) only one of which competes with the company I am applying for now (T1). The old company fired me and I have been on unemployment for a year and have applied to and interviewed with dozens of companies. There is so much competition here there might be a hundred plus applicants per job. I really need this job! Should I accept the position if given to me? Thank you for your time.

I would definitely accept the position if offered. I would also have an employment lawyer review the non-compete agreement with the old employer. Ohio is what is called a "blue pencil" state which allows judges to literally rewrite a non-compete to make it conform to what is reasonably necessary to protect the former employer from unfair competition.
