This aide is someone I've known for 18 months. She started working for this company in March. When I needed an aide in May, I contacted the agency and asked for her. Now she wants to leave the agency and work on her own because she doesn't like the way they treat her. I'm willing to hire her and pay her Social Security, etc., but I can't afford to pay a fee of $5000.

You need to have the agreement that you signed and/or she signed reviewed by an attorney to understand your rights and restrictions. Best of luck.
