I have to give 3 week notice that I am quitting to get paid for accrued vacation days I have earned (6 1/2 weeks). If the boss let's me go when I turn in my resignation, are they still legally bound to pay me that vacation time?

Have worked for the company 16 years. I have 6 1/2 weeks vacation time coming to me. According to their manual if I give 3 weeks notice they will pay me for that time. But if my supervisor says they don't need me anymore when I turn in my resignation are they still legally bound to pay me?
