I have been with a company in a contract position for six months. The contract is expiring. I received an offer of employment from another company in our same office , who does the same type work. We’re all contractors and subcontractors in the same industry. This offer came with a significant pay increase and a company vehicle. After about a week, I was told my current manager would not sign off on the deal as he wanted to retain me on his team, though he offered no incentives or pay increases, and he knows our contract is coming to an end. He didn’t even call to tell me himself. I found out through the company that wanted to hire me. Is this legal? What should I do next?
