I had a prospective employer ask me my age during an interview. What are my rights?

I was asked "how old are you?" during an interview by a prospective employer. I told her my age then followed with "that's an illegal question". She was very interested in me up to that point, then, when I called her on it, she asked me if I was an attorney.
I checked back today to see if the position was still available and the same woman told me that the position had been filled, but that they's keep my resume/application on file.

What can I do now? Please advise.
