I am a teacher in Texas and recently received an email from a student's mother that I attempted to have her son removed from my classroom due to him being an African American. Is there any basis for a defamation lawsuit ? I know that for libel, it has to be a statement of fact not opinion and it had to be public. Is the accusation a statement of fact? And is my email, since it's a public domain and subject to scrutiny at any time by my administration and district, fall under the requirements? Thank you!
