Hi, I have a former employer trying to blacklist me I believe. Who can I contact to try and see if I have a case? They spoke to potential employers before my current job and affected me getting the job, and now that I have a job somewhere else, they're as

I was fired from a former employer due to the terrible work environment leading me to try communicate to HR and other people how bad things were. I did some things I'm not proud of, but not illegal...I was just fed up with nothing changing. I went to HR and they did nothing, the boss communicated to me that she knew I went to HR, and made things even worse after that. I created an anonymous email account so I could send an email to her boss letting them know how bad things were, and that led to my termination.
When trying to find a new job, I put 2 and 2 together and once they called UPMC for a reference, that ended everything, and these were possible jobs with people I had good relationships with when I was working at UPMC. When I finally did find a job, they are now contacting my boss asking her that I don't contact any of their clients (Which is almost impossible in this industry because we are the middle man that works with all insurance carriers, so they're essentialy asking her that I don't do about 75% of my job...which I can see possibly leading to me losing this job) I don't think they should be able to black list me like this. Where can I go to for advice?
