Have I been misclassified as an independant contractor?
I'm a licenced cosmetologist in MA. I'm paid 55% commission on the services I perform. I am expected to promote myself on the salon's facebook page and website. My clients book appointments with me using the salon's phone. When there are gaps in my schedule, I am expected to be available to accept walk ins, and to do laundry and other chores, and act as receptionist. The salon collects fees for my services and gives me a check at the end of each week. I work 30 hours or more each week and have for 7 years. I receive a 1099. I believe I am being misclassified, but can't find adequate documentation to back myself up. Thank you!
