Fired because of lack of referals? Is that legal?

I have been told I am to be terminated because I didn't bring in enough revenue to the hospital I work for. However, I was never told I needed to refer my patients to my hospital and while I always offer it, I can't force them to go. I work off-site but am hired by the hospital. Do I have any recourse?
