FMLA in a scheduled 50 hour work week

I am an “exempt” retail manager required to work 50 hours per week. I need to apply for FMLA due to my father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. My question is this: If I really only need the FMLA so that I have two days in a row off each week to travel to help with his care, can the FMLA be set up so that this is possible? As a retail manager, I almost never get two days in a row off, normally my days off are Thursday and Sunday, not allowing me to travel the three hours one way to help with his care. I don’t want to have to quit my job, but am afraid to ask for this and be terminated as I have 14 years with the company and am the highest paid store manager in the region (company trends have been to remove or get rid of these senior managers in favor of new managers at lower pay rates).
