Employee or Contractor? Right or Wrong?
I'm a 1099 sub contractor for a company yet I have the position title Vice President. I recently did some work on a Saturday after hours and the President found out about it. My paycheck hasn't cleared due to NSF and I had 4 of them (4 weeks worth). I was able to go to check cashing stores and cashed 3 of them. The 4th is a temp check and I have to go to the issuing bank to cash. The president stopped payment on it and basically told other 1099 "employees " in the office I was fired while I was at lunch and that I better not come back. He shut off my company phone and has never contacted me. Is this legal??
