Do I have a case for an Unfair Demotion

in 2016 I was questioned by the MTA Inspector General about 8 inconsistencies with my time record sheets submitted over a 18 month period beginning in January 2015. I answered their questions truthfully and admitted that I may have made mistakes due to my busy schedule as an Assistant Chief officer as well as a Volunteer Fire fighter. I offered at that time to make the corrections but was informed by the Ig that that would not be necessary. fast forward to November 30, 2017 I am still working in the capacity of an Assistant Chief when I am summoned to Labor Relations and informed that I will be demoted, suspended and possibly dismissed from my employment due to these 8 mistakes. I was given the option of having a hearing before an arbitrator who would decide if the MTA had thhe right to discipline me, but he could not rule on the demotion. the Arbitrator took into account my unblemished and successful 31 year career with the NYCTA and ultimately I received a time served suspension and restoration to the last civil service title that I held. do you believe that I have a case for unjust demotion
