Can your supervisor announce your termination to all staff before you are notified even if the emplo

You are transferred from one office to the other to clean up mess. The job is performed above satisfaction and you have received exceptional performance reviews.
Then directors are re-assigned. New one never spoke to staff but announces your termination in the hall way to all your direct report. Calls you from at you home on tele-work schedule to come in late afternoon. You find out from junior staff you have been fired with now reason given except that she can do so because the state financial office is an AT-Will employer. Can the government be so cold to its employee, do I have a case?
